Dr. Michael Ramirez is Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in sociology from the University of Georgia and his B.A. in sociology from Texas Tech University.
His areas of expertise include race, class, and gender, work & occupations, identity, aging & the life course, and qualitative methods.
His other work has been published in Symbolic Interaction, Journal of Men's Studies, Journal of Adolescent Research, Qualitative Sociology Review, Association of Mexican American Educators Journal, among other outlets. He is currently undertaking various projects. The first is a qualitative project on fathers examining the extent to which social class, race, ethnicity, and employment in a range of job sectors influence the work-family interface. The second is an ethnographic project on constructions of masculinities in a men’s religious movement. He lives in Texas with his partner Ashley, daughters Brianna and Rhea, and canine companions Faith and Bowie.
